The land of Peaky Blinders. I spent many nights out on the town here in my twenties, amazing what a dramatic transformation this city went through during that decade alone.
Birmingham's history as a major settlement dates back to the early 12th century as a popular market town. It's extensive canal network, having more canals than Venice, marked it as a key player in the global export market. The city gained a worldwide reputation as a powerhouse of manufacturing and invention. Still to this day over 40% of the UK's handmade jewellery is produced here. And of course, Cadbury opened the iconic factory in Bournville in the 19th Century 🍫.
So, colours. Brick, orange and rust for the manufacturing, brick buildings and canals. Blue for Birmingham City Football Club. Claret, sky blue and yellow for Aston Villa. Silvery grey for the Bullring and gold for the Jewellery Quarter.
